As I mentioned before, I have been involved in a team photo tourney at Worth1000. Well, we are finally done.
Here are my submissions and rankings:
Round 1: Borders

My original idea was to photograph some cemetery gates… The Border between the living and the dead, but we don’t have any cemeteries in our area with old, spooky gates and the newer gates just don’t have as much impact.
I placed 21/44 and our team came in 5th out of 7 teams.
Round 2: Propaganda

This one was really hard. Originally I had planned on having a photo of the book Mein Kamph (Adolph Hitler’s Autobiography) with a Nazi armband draped over the edge of it, a red candle next to it and my daughter in the background as a silhouette with her face in her hands as if in deep sorrow. The only problem, we were not allowed to leave any type of comment about the photo and I was afraid that people would misinterpret it as a pro Nazi photo. Plus, I don’t have any Nazi armbands & probably would have had to make one. (Yes, we do own a copy of the book, although it because T collects 1st edition books, NOT because we believe in them.)
I placed 22/35 and our team finished 4th out of 6 teams.
Round 3: Dis ‘N Dat (use at least 2 of the following in a photo: A fish, chaulk, pillow, money, wax, eye lashes, smoke)

So… I spent over an hour… on my knees… on the cement… drawing my 4 foot long koi fish, in chalk & then made T give me money to put in the chalk box… like people may have done if I had drawn this on a busy city street and not my suburbian driveway. LMAO
I placed 26/31 and our team finished 2nd out of 5 teams.
Round 4: We got 2 weeks off because this was a come back round for the teams that had been eliminated.
Round 5: Magic

I went with old school magic, back to the roots, so to speak. Shelby’s boyfriend, Devan, is the guy behind the hands. He collects cards and likes to do magic tricks, so it was perfect. I did a partial desat but upped the saturation on the cards. Not bad for doing it at the last minute, eh? LOL
I placed 21/30 and our team came in 3rd over all… but it was actually pretty close, we were only 0.045 points behind the first place team.
It was a lot of fun and starting January 1st I will be in another competition: 1 A Day. We have to take and post 1 photo every day for the entire month. I’ll be posting mine at my photoblog, through an untrained eye.
